Yesterday TSN's Bob McKenzie revealed his top 20th draft rankings, and the projected 1st overall Shane Wright, was no longer 1st! Slovakian Juraj Slafkovsky took the throne at first overall according to McKenzie.
Shane Wright was answering some questions from reporters and he said that the rumours surrounding the draft cannot be ignored.
It's definitely not something you can ignore easily. Now that the season is over, my attention is on the draft. However, it's all noise and I don't have any control over what people say or the different rankings. I'm focused on being as ready as possible for the draft. It obviously comes with pressure, but I want to enjoy the moment as much as possible.
When asked about the Bob McKenzie list that had him placed 2nd in the upcoming draft, he had this to say:
I don't put much stock in the various lists. At the end of the day, they're just rankings and that doesn't mean they'll be representative of the draft order. We won't know that until July 7, so I don't care much about it. I know these are smart people who put a lot of effort into these rankings, but they don't matter to me.
