Steven Stamkos has played his entire career for the Tampa Bay Lightning, and it is hard to imagine him in any other jersey. However, at the beginning of the season, he voiced his displeasure regarding the lack of contract talks occurring over the summer.
Now, according to Erik Erlendsson, the lack of talks could prove to risky for Tampa as Stamkos remains unsigned.
What is troubling for Tampa Bay is the lack of prioritization on getting a Stamkos deal done. Not only is Stamkos the face of the Lightning franchise, he still has lots of production left in the tank.
Stamkos has started the year off with 15 points in 14 games, tallying 5 goals and 10 assists. At 33 years old, it is clear he still has what it takes to be a superstar in the NHL. The remaining question is whether or not he will be a superstar for a team other than the Lightning.
