This NHL insider has made a shocking new prediction for where Patrick Kane will sign when he becomes healthy.

Pierre LeBrun Predicts Kane Will Sign With Florida

Patrick Kane has been the talk of the offseason, as he continues to remain unsigned while rehabilitating from his hip surgery. It was reported that Kane was not going to sign with a team until the end of October. Now, with training camps starting to wrap up, a more clear picture is emerging on who can sign Kane.

Recently, Pierre LeBrun has predicted that Kane will sign in Florida with the Panthers instead of the rumoured favourite, his hometown Buffalo Sabres.

Going to his hometown Sabres makes a lot of sense, but my prediction is that Patrick Kane ends up with the Panthers.

Panthers Need to Stay Competitive To Be on Kane's Shortlist

Kane and his Agent are waiting until the end of October not just to rehabilitate his hips, but to also get a picture of who has a shot at winning the Stanley Cup. For that reason, Florida needs to be able to hang on in order to be attractive to Kane.

LeBrun thinks this is possible, but they are taking a slight gamble waiting for Ekblad and Montour to return to the blue line.

One would think Florida would be more worried about its blue line, my sense is that the Panthers feel they can hang in until Aaron Ekblad and Brandon Montour return. Panthers general manager Bill Zito had Kane at a world hockey championship, where Zito made him captain.

Can you imagine Kane playing on a line with Aleksander Barkov? I certainly can.

The key for Florida is not to lose too much ground early in the season. The plan for Kane and agent Pat Brisson is to look at the landscape one month into the season and start making a shortlist. The Panthers must stay in it to make that list.

As the season starts, it appears teams will be playing for the Patrick Kane sweepstakes in addition to a position in the standings.
