After their yet another first round playoff departure, the Toronto Maple Leafs have been a hot topic since then, but also even hotter as of late because they are currently entering free agency without a starting goaltender.

Due to cap issues, and Jack Campbells team and The Maple Leafs not agreeing on a salary, it looks like the Leafs former starting Jack Campbell will be going to free agency and the Leafs will be looking for a replacement.

The Leafs for years now have been a team that has been capable of great things but always falling short when it matters. Many believe they are an elite goalie away from being a cup contending team and Maple Leafs General Manager has his eyes on a free agent that is one of the best goalies of all time.

Kyle Dubas is very interested in acquiring Marc-Andre Fleury. Dubas tried to acquire Fleury via trade back at the trade deadline when he was a member of the Blackhawks, but both sides couldn't come to an agreement, so Fleury made his way to the Minnesota Wild instead.

Campbell was popular among the fans in Toronto, who gave him the name ''soupy'' and under the Leafs organization, he became a above average starting goaltender in the league after being acquired from the LA Kings. Campbell played well enough under the Leafs that they let Frederick Andersen leave in free agency last season, and we all saw what he did in Carolina this year.

Campbell is hoping to receive a multi-year deal above $5 million per season and thats definitely something the Leafs cannot afford right now. The amount Fleury is believed to be asking for is between $4-5 million, so while not much cheaper, it still saves the Leafs a bit of cap space and the Leafs get a three-time Stanley Cup goaltender.
