Initial reports were claiming that Kaprizov had already made his way back to America, but now some conflicting reports have surfaced that make us question what is true.
Upon hearing about the arrest of Ivan Fedotov, Kirill Kaprizov reportedly immediately returned to the United States. His name is linked to fraudulent military IDs being sold to players, including Fedotov, and Kaprizov is now wanted in Russia, per Sport-Express. Andrew Zadarnowski (@AZadarski) July 6, 2022
We are now hearing from Michael Russo of the Athletic who reported that Kaprizov has not made it back to America.
Regarding reports that Kirill Kaprizov is wanted in Russia for allegedly buying a military ID in 2017 and has returned to the United States, a #mnwild source says he is not in the U.S. Obviously this is a complicated story and I'm working to see if there's merit. Michael Russo (@RussoHockey) July 6, 2022
To add to the confusion, it's being reported that the government has already assigned Kaprizov to an Air Force base when/should he reports for military duty.
I should clarify:
The Russian draft board decided that Kaprizov would serve in the Airborne Division if he were to join the Army. Andrew Zadarnowski (@AZadarski) July 6, 2022
No one knows all the information regarding this situation yet, but it will be interesting to see what happens to all the Russian NHL players who had made their way back to Russia for the offseason. Will we get to see any of them next season in the National Hockey League?
