A few teams have been highly linked to Miller, and one being the Washington Capitals after center Nicklas Backstrom had possible career ending surgery.
Canucks President of hockey Operations Jim Rutherford stated that they'll know by the draft if they would be trading J.T. Miller or not and according to TSN's Darren Dreger, we are in a ''full trade watch'' for him right now.
The JT Miller watch is full on in Montreal. Understandably, Vancouver's ask remains high, but the interest in the talented forward is very strong. A developing story we're watching closely. Darren Dreger (@DarrenDreger) July 6, 2022
While this doesn't mean he will move, but Miller is in the final year of his contract and if he doesn't want to resign with the Canucks they risk losing him for nothing.
Miller is in the final year of a contract that had a cap hit of $5,250,000, which he will be looking for a significant raise after the season he just had. Miller finished 1 point shy of 100 points, which was nearly doubly his career high up to this point in his career. The 29 year old veteran has been around for 637 career games and scored 454 points while playing on three different teams.
On July 13th, Miller is eligible to sign an extension from whichever team he is on, and with the prices being thrown around for free agents right now, Miller is looking at a huge payday.
