The Maple Leafs have lost quite a few pieces this offseason due to cap restraints. They watched as Ilya Mikheyev signed a big deal to play out in Vancouver, Ondrej Kase signed in Carolina, Jason Spezza retired and Jack Campbell signed with the Edmonton Oilers.
While the top 6 will remain fairly the same, the Leafs bottom 6 and goaltending will look extremely different this year.
Many believed the Leafs are done in free agency and will be going into the season with their current roster, but they might be losing another piece from their last years team.
Rumours are that the Toronto Maple Leafs are trying to trade center Alexander Kerfoot who has one year left on a team friendly deal that pays him $3,500,000. Kerfoot playing in a middle 6 role last season scored 51 points in 82 games and will be looking for a raise on his current deal.
The Leafs are still in contract talks with RFA Rasmus Sandin and it has not looked good so far, so perhaps they are looking at packaging these two players together for a larger return?
