Carolina Hurricanes forward Teuvo Teravainen has been the face of trade rumors in Carolina.

Teravainen back to the Blackhawks?

The rumors have Taravainen being shipped back to the team that drafted him, the Chicago Blackhawks.

Theses rumors are in the early stages but it would make sense that the Hurricanes would be trading the 28-year-old forward who is entering the last year of his contract.

Teravainen was traded from the Blackhawks back in 2016. The trade was a cap dump for the Blackhawks.

The full trade was:

BLACKHAWKS Receive: 2016 2nd round pick (Artur Kayumov) and 2017 3rd round pick (Keith Petruzzelli)

CAROLINA Receives: Teuvo Teravainen and Byran Bickell

Carolina's Cap Space

Teravainen might be the valued piece that gets traded or let go at the end of the season. Teravainen has one year left at $5.4 million and is most likely in for a similar salary afterwards.

The Canes also have to sign Seth Jarvis to his first real contract and re-sign rising star Martin Necas to a new deal. As well as 4 of their top 6 defenseman need a new contract

With only $845-thousand dollars in cap space right now and with Aho's new deal in place the Hurricanes will have to lose one of their support players.
