Two Teams Remain as Possibilities for an Erik Karlsson Trade
Erik Karlsson has been waiting a long time to be traded. His name has been in rumors for years.
However, the Sharks are not worried. Karlsson, who recently won the third Norris Trophy of his career, still has four years left on his contract.
He seems willing to wait for the right offer.
Elliotte Friedman provided an important update, confirming that there are two clear front-runners to land Karlsson.
Two Front-Runners for Karlsson
Friedman revealed on NHL Network that the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Carolina Hurricanes are in the running.
He also informed us that Seattle looked to make it work, but it won't happen.
"I think the Penguins are one of the last teams standing on Erik Karlsson. I think Carolina is in there, they have much more cap room, and I think Seattle looked at it but I don't think it's going to work," Friedman said.
Karlsson admitted that he wants to play for a contender team, and it looks like he's about to get it. Both the Pens and the Canes are looking for nothing less than winning the Stanley Cup.
The two opportunities are interesting. When you get the chance to play with Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kristopher Letang or with one of the best top-six in the NHL featuring Sebastian Aho, Teuvo Teravainen, Andrei Svechnikov, and Martin Necas, you take it.
Where do you think he'll end up?
As seen on Blade of Steel - Karlsson sweepstakes reportedly down to only two teams
