After decades with the network, Christine Simpson is officially gone from Sportsnet.
She made the announcement in a lengthy post on X Wednesday about reflections from her time at the network.
To that, Sportsnet PR thanked Christine Simpson for being one of the women who paved the way for future generations in sports broadcasting and wished her well.
At age 59, Christine Simpson started her broadcasting career when Rogers Sportsnet launched in 1998. Before long, she became one of the more recognizable faces in hockey as a reporter and hosting "Showtime with Chris Simpson."
She's also the sister to Craig Simpson, the former Edmonton Oilers player serving now as an analyst for Hockey Night in Canada. She came back to Sportsnet in 2011 after a three-year hiatus from the station in 2008.
Before her time with Sportsnet, Christine Simpson served as a marketing manager with the Hockey Hall of Fame and was the first-ever in-arena host for the Toronto Maple Leafs. She has additional experience working with ABC, ESPN, NBCSN, hosting "Captains" on the NHL Network, and has even covered the New Jersey Devils for MSG Plus.
Fans and analysts cannot wait to get more clarification on this departure and hope to see her back on TV very soon.
