Johnny Gaudreau spent most of his career with the Calgary Flames before moving to Columbus, and fans of both teams held special vigils in honor of him.

Fans have gathered outside Nationwide Arena in Columbus to hold a candlelight vigil for the Gaudreau brothers, observing 13 minutes and 21 seconds of silence. Johnny used #13 throughout his career, while Matthew used #21.
Meanwhile, Calgary fans held their own vigil in honor of the brothers at a fan-made memorial near the Saddledome.

Star forward Johnny Gaudreau, the 104th overall selection in the 2011 Draft, played nine seasons for the Flames. In 2022, he signed a seven-year contract with Columbus. Johnny and Matthew were teammates at Boston College during the 2013-14 season when Johnny won the prestigious Hobey Baker Award.

Both cities' outpouring of love and support truly shows how close-knit the hockey community is. At the time of deep loss, it reminds us of just how much sports can bring people closer and how much people truly cherish important memories. Tonight, Columbus and Calgary both came together in a beautiful manner, and their fans should be proud of how they've honored these young men.
