Ryan Reaves Sends a Threat to Other NHL Teams After Joining the Maple Leafs
The Missing Piece?
Brad Treliving made a major move by acquiring Ryan Reaves in the free agent market.
His grit and aggressiveness might be the missing piece in the Leafs lineup to succeed in the playoffs.
If the GM makes additional moves before the start of next season, the 2023-2024 edition of the Leafs might be one of the best in years.
Many people didn't react well to Reaves' contract, which carries a total value of $4.05 million over three years.
However, during an incredibly funny interview with James Duthie on TSN, Reaves discussed his arrival in Toronto, and his response might reassure the most skeptical fans.
"I'm just looking to add a little swag and grit and bring a Cup to Toronto."
Ryan Reaves' personality is exactly what was missing in Toronto.
Dealing with the Pressure
Later, he was asked how he would handle the pressure of Toronto's market, especially in the playoffs:
Reaves: "I'll just beat somebody up, and all the pressure's over."
Duthie: "Do you have a list or something you've compiled?"
Reaves: "Honestly, anyone in a different sweater is free for that list. I'm taking applications."
He sends a clear message to the other teams not to mess around with the Leafs.
