Six teams rumored to be in on 1000 game veteran James Van Reimsdyk
Veteran James Van Riemsdyk has made his intentions of playing in the NHL clear, and ahead of the 2024/25 season, he has garnered plenty of interest.
The 2024/25 NHL regular season is fast approaching, and while the rush of free agency is behind us, there are still some valuable names out there to be signed. One of those is James Van Riemsdyk, who spent last season with the Boston Bruins, and while the 35-year-old isn't getting any younger, he clearly has plenty of gas left in the tank.
After departing Boston as a free agent, there's been reported interest from several Original Six teams this summer, but the latest update has revealed that seven teams remain interested in the veteran forward.
I've heard the Devils are one of six teams that would have interest in JVR playing on a one-season deal. The Wild are still a possibility. So is a return to the Bruins. Other potential destinations if playing close to home doesn't work out: Anaheim, Tampa, Vegas.
The numbers don't impress like they used to, with three straight seasons scoring 40 points or less, but given his experience and invaluable leadership, he would be a fantastic pickup for any of the teams mentioned as he looks to chase that elusive Stanley Cup. Van Riemsdyk is regarded by many as the best free agent left on the market, and with training camp almost upon us, expect a decision to be made in the coming weeks.
