Calgary Flames officially trade forward Andrew Mangiapane to Washington
It was just announced that the Calgary Flames have traded forward Andrew Mangiapane to the Washington Capitals for a second round pick.
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman just announced major news as Andrew Mangiapane was traded to Washington.
Andrew Mangiapane has been traded from Calgary to Washington for a second-round pick in 2025
Andrew Mangiapane has been traded from the Calgary Flames to the Washington Capitals in exchange for a 2nd round pick '25. Mangiapane had a down season, however besides that he's been an analytics darling for a few years already. Good deal for Washington in my eyes.
Mangiapane has spent his entire career with the Flames and peaked in 2021-22 when he scored 35 goals and 55 points. He will look for a career revitalization in Washington after a down year with only 40 points.
He will likely play in their top six alongside talents like Alex Ovechkin, Dylan Strome, and Pierre-Luc Dubois who the Capitals traded for earlier this year.
The Flames will now clear out some significant cap space with getting Mangiapane off of the books and could be able to sign some top free agents during this upcoming offseason.
