Cutter Gauthier makes a fool of himself with cocky comments
Cutter Gauthier made the mistake of having a bit too much confidence in his Boston College Eagles prior to the national championship against the Denver Pioneers.
Cutter Gauthier has already been controversial in professional hockey, getting traded out of Philadelphia before even playing a game with the team. Now, the comments he made prior to the national championship are haunting him, as he had a bit too much confidence in his team to win it all.
"It's gonna be epic. There's gonna be a lot of emotions and a lot of tears for that team over there. So, we're happy and we're excited to get after it.
Obviously, it is one thing to have confidence in your own group to win it all, and no one expects Gauthier to think they wouldn't win it all. But it is an entirely another thing to say that the other team will end up in tears. Those comments caught up to Gauthier, as Boston College fell to the Denver Pioneers in the National Championship.
Despite the comments, Gauthier had a strong season with Boston College and with Team USA World Juniors this year, and will likely turn pro soon. However, he did confirm after the game that he had not had much contact with the Anaheim Ducks recently.
"Yeah, I'm not too sure. I haven't spoken to Ducks at all recently, so not too sure what's going on there and what their thoughts are, but you know, just trying to cherish every last moment as being a college athlete." Gauthier said.
We will see how Gauthier's highly anticipated NHL debut will go as he makes the next step in his hockey career.
