One of the tallest hockey players in history commits to the NCAA
The NCAA continues to get bigger, faster, and stronger every year, and now a 7-foot tall, 250-pound Alexander Karmanov has committed to Penn State, adding to it.
Penn State has been a consistent powerhouse in the NCAA for a very long time, and they have just gotten a whole lot meaner and bigger. Reports coming out reveal that 16-year-old Alexander Karmanov has signed a commitment to play for Penn State in the upcoming season.
Penn State has received a commitment from Russian 2008-born forward Alexander Carmanov.
Karmanov has a massive presence on the ice, standing at 7 feet tall and that's without skates on! He also weighs 250 pounds, which is a lot more than the average hockey player as the game has recently shifted to a smaller, faster style. It will be very interesting to see how he does around all the other faster players.
Because people cannot get enough of Alexander Karmanov, some skating clips via Instagram. Have not seen a 7'0 hockey player before but I'd guess this is decent skating for that height.
Karmanov has been involved in three major competitions (two in the U16 and one in the U18), and has proven that being that tall and that heavy in hockey is no obstacle for him, as he has put up a solid nine points in 18 games while delivering plenty of good hits.
Fans will be eagerly awaiting to see if his size will allow him to continue his solid play at the College level, however many are pretty certain that NHL teams will all be wanting a crack at his size when he becomes draft-eligible one day.
