It may come as a shock, but Columbus Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine hasn't been receiving much interest on the trade front, says GM Don Waddell.

It's been two weeks since forward Patrik Laine left the NHL Player's Assistance Program, with the next step being finding a new home for the Finnish forward after he requested a trade at the end of the 2023-24 season. Laine had six goals and three assists in 18 games for the fifth line.

GM Don Waddell has publicly stated that the forward hasn't exactly been the hot commodity that much media has been speculating, with only one team of interest thus far.

However, there hasn't been much interest in Laine's services just yet. GM Don Waddell told Brian Hedger of the Columbus Dispatch earlier this week that at this point, only one team has contacted him to express interest in acquiring his services.

Given where we are in the offseason, Waddell isn't particularly surprised nor does he expect the situation to change in the near future:

Many rumors indicate that Laine's asking price is draft picks and prospects, a cost that may be too high for many inquiring teams in the NHL.
