The past few years have seen the intensity in the rivalry between Boston and Toronto grow to new heights, and in 2024/25, they will have another intriguing storyline to follow. While new signing Elias Lindholm becomes the second of that last name on Boston, it's actually a family tie that will highlight this incredible rivalry next season, as Lindholm is cousins with current Maple Leafs forward Calle Jarnkrok.
This won't be the first time that the two meet on the ice, but it will be the first time on the opposite ends of a heated rivalry such as this one, which is new territory for them. Two years ago, the two were actually teammates with the Calgary Flames, but now, they find themselves on opposing ends of a rivalry that many believe is one of the best in the NHL.
It's unlikely that this will result in any more fire between the two Eastern Conference powerhouses, but with so much intensity and energy in this rivalry, it will be a neat storyline to watch play out when the two come face-to-face. It was Boston the ended Toronto's season in heartbreaking fashion this past season in Game 7 of the first round, but with both teams making major additions this off-season, things will be even more interesting next year.
