The Arizona Coyotes relocation is all but guaranteed at this point, and now a top insider has predicted when it will become official.
After news broke this week that Salt Lake City will now play host to their first ever NHL team at the expense of Arizona, the team will now be announcing the move officially next week.
The #Coyotes will likely announce their relocation from Tempe, Arizona to Salt Lake City, Utah, on April 18th.
All indications are this is the only option, and all the wheels are in motion for the purchase and transfer of assets.
The current Coyotes' player group feels "betrayed" and believes that the way this was handled was "cowardly."
Current owner Alex Meruelo will likely have the opportunity to bring back the Coyotes as an expansion team within the next 5 years, but it's believed that his relationship with players will be permanently strained.
While it's been rumoured for quite some time, things have come together incredibly quickly for the NHL, as they will now likely have a team in Salt Lake City for the 2024-25 season, a very quick turnaround. As of the last report, there have been no official word on a potential name, branding or conference realignment for the NHL, but for now, we are one step closer to losing the Arizona Coyotes officially.
