Brad Marchand is well known for his ability to toe the line on the ice when it comes to avoiding infractions. In fact, he has gotten a lot of praise, ironic or not, from Toronto Maple Leafs' players and coaches during this first-round series. However, it has now been pointed out that he is skirting an NHL rule beyond just embellishing plays on the ice.
According to some fans on social media, Marchand is in violation of rule 9.3 which states that a player's jersey must extend to his gloves. While it is clear that those pointing it out are Leaf fans, Bruins fans don't think it really matters.
This photo of the proposed infraction doesn't really account for evidence, since Marchand raising his arms is going to raise the jersey past his wrists anyway. However, it is clear that he toes the line of this rule as well, as his wrists were exposed for Max Domi earlier during the series.
It's more than likely that if the NHL does take issue with how Marchand is wearing his jersey, they will issue him a warning before any official punishment, so really the effort to call it out will not lead to much besides Marchand's wrists being covered up in the future. Leaf fans really should put their focus and hopes elsewhere.
