Every team across the NHL is currently running through their prospect development camp. This is where players selected in the NHL Draft or signed as free agents by teams can do drills with coaches from the team they are representing.
Over the years these development camps have also been used as opportunities for young coaches as well. Almost every team will bring in a coach or two to add to their development staff for the week. In the case of the Carolina Hurricanes and GM Eric Tulsky, the team decided to bring in former professional hockey player Allie LaCombe.
During Allie LaCombe's playing career, she spent 4 years at Syracuse University. Then played one season in the Women's Professional hockey league formerly known as the NWHL. Since then she has been a development coach for the Vancouver Canucks in the past as well as starting a program called the Nashville Warriors Hockey Club.
Now Allie LaCombe will take her talents and passion for coaching and the game of hockey to Carolina. Throughout the week she will work with various prospects and continue to help them develop on their journey to the NHL.
