Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving puts 3 players on the trade block
The Leafs have been busy signing multiple players throughout the summer, which has put them up against the cap. Three players may now be on their way out.
After failing to make a deep playoff run for yet another year, the Leafs were once again very busy this off-season, signing numerous veterans. This big spending spree has pushed them right up against the cap with little to no wiggle room.
TSN's Chris Johnston has now stated that the team is placing three of their players on the trading block, in the hope that several trades may help clear up some salary.
"They would look at moving Kampf, Jarnkrok, or Timothy Liljegren in the right deal. I should be very clear, that is not to say they are trying to get rid of them at all costs, but I think that because of the Leafs' salary cap, they are pretty tight up against it," said Johnston on the latest edition of 'The CJ Show'. "Really, at this point of the off-season, their blueline looks different, [they] obviously made the move in net, but I think they will have to get creative to address any changes they want to make at forward." Leafs GM Brad Treliving has stated that while he is not in a rush to make any moves and is content with his current roster, should the right deal come along that would be hard to pass up, he would definitely agree to a trade.
