Martin Necas' trade fate has been officially confirmed by Elliotte Friedman
Today on the Jeff Marek Show, insider Elliotte Friedman shared Martin Necas' trade fate with the Carolina Hurricanes as it looks like he will not be signing long-term.
Currently, Carolina Hurricanes restricted free agent Martin Necas is the top player on the trade block. The Hurricanes wanted to retain Necas for the upcoming season but as of now, it looks like he is going to be moving on from the Hurricanes. Elliotte Friedman reports the following:
Jeff Marek Show: Elliotte says he doesn't want to say the Necas stuff is "heating up" but talk has picked up. People thought it could get worked between both sides but they don't think that's going to happen.
This comes after Friedman shared earlier this week that the Hurricanes want a massive haul in return for Necas.
On Necas: "Carolina is letting people know that they consider Necas a budding star and that's the kind of return they want."
"Star power is what they want in return I heard."
Elliotte says a 1st rounder and a decent prospect isn't going to cut it.
We will now wait and see what trade talks pick up and see which team gives Carolina the highest bid in order to get Necas' services. Necas is coming off a 53-point year after scoring 71 points the year prior.
