The story of Oliver Kylington is an admirable one, as the former second-round pick took over a year away from the game of hockey to work on his mental health in his home of Sweden. Still to this day, and rightfully so, not much is known about the situation that led to this departure, but the Flames were widely supported for the way they stuck by the player throughout the entire ordeal, before he inked a deal with the Avalanche this off-season.
Now, through a recent interview, we have learned a little more about the situation involving Kylington, with the 27-year old revealing that he had to make the huge personal sacrifice of cutting off his parents to continue improving his mental health.
For this situation to go so far, it's clear that something massive happened in his personal life in the past few years, but now, he's without distractions as he looks to help the contending Avalanche back to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2024/25.
We may never know the whole story with Kylington, who has revealed very little about his life beyond hockey, but with so much talent, we hope that this was the right move for him personally as it could potentially have a very positive impact on his future in the NHL.
