Blue Jackets executive John Davidson publicly bashes Patrik Laine
Blue Jackets executive John Davidson doesn't appear to be over the whole Patrik Laine situation, as he took to the airwaves to publicly bash the former player.
Making a surprise appearance, Columbus Blue Jackets executive John Davidson joined Daren Millard and John Shannon on their '100% Hockey' podcast recently to talk about several topics relating to his team.
One topic that really stood out to fans around the game was when Davidson spoke about the whole Patrik Laine situation.
He talked, among other things, about why Laine didn't work in Columbus and shared his thoughts about the critical things Laine said about the team in the media after his trade.
John Davidson believes his team is better without Laine
Davidson went as far as to say that he felt his Blue Jackets are a much better team this season without Patrik Laine.
"We, as a club, are much better off without Patrik Laine there. So it's a win-win"
- John Davidson
Davidson also wasn't happy with how Laine recently spoke in the media before a Montreal-Columbus game where it appeared he was taking shots at his former team.
"That wasn't cool. Well, you could tell in the first period that it ticked the team off because he got put on his butt about three times. Somebody wrote something in Montreal that said we were "targeting his shoulder.
" He took a run at Voronkov. Voronkov threw his arm up a little bit and Patrik bounced back about 10 feet, his stick went flying another 10 feet, and it wasn't Voronkov running him, he ran Voronkov.
And I don't know why he'd do that. Here's the best way of looking at it - Patrik's gone through a lot, he seems to be healed which is good, and he's doing well in Montreal which is terrific.
- John Davidson
Davidson did end up wishing Laine well to end off his interview and has no ill-will towards him, or so he says.
"For Patrik, I wish him well. I've had a lot of talks with him, he's a nice man. But to go into Columbus and take shots at everybody before the game, I don't think I would've done that."

Davidson looks forward to getting back into the broadcast booth this season from time to time with Steve Mears. He loves calling games. The Blue Jackets head to New York City today to face the Rangers.
