Oilers netminder Jack Campbell has been playing in the American Hockey League most of the season. Last night he gave up another bad goal, this time coming off a penalty shot where he gave up on the play.

Oilers Goalie Continues To Make Gaffs With AHL Condors

It is safe to say that Campbell has not had the best season this time around. He probably feels like he still belongs in the NHL and yet he's playing in a tandem role at the American Hockey League level. making matters worse is the fact that the AHL condors play in Bakersfield, California, not a highly sought after destination. After last night though, he will likely stay with the team for awhile longer as he just gave up another brutal goal.

Lmao this is the most Jack Campbell allowed goal i've ever seen.

Poor fella Kinda sums up the season for Jack Campbell 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Meanwhile, Calvin Pickard has provided the Oilers with a consistent level of performances in net in a limited backup role with the team. That will likely be enough for him to stay in that position through the rest of the season as he has been reliable, something the team cannot say about Campbell.

In this same period, Stuart Skinner (23 Starts) has a:
0.922 Save%
2.28 GAA
16 Wins

In this same period, Calvin Pickard (9 Starts) has a:
0.928 Save%
1.89 GAA
7 Wins

This team is set in net for a couple years.

Campbell Struggling To Find Game In American Hockey League

This all comes after the Oilers waived Campbell to send him to the AHL early in the season. The veteran netminder had struggled mightily in his few NHL games this season, but things have not gotten much better in the American league. He has improved his numbers to a respectable 2.58 goals-against-average and a .920 save percentage, but the Oilers clearly do not trust him enough to call him back up to the NHL squad.

ICYMI: We spoke with Jack Campbell after his first start with the Condors last night.

At this point Campbell's future is in doubt. He will likely have another chance to crack the Oilers lineup next season but the team could very well move on to other netminders for a backup. Stuart Skinner appears to have cemented his claim to the starter's job so that role is out of the question for the 32-year-old.

As seen on Jack Campbell allows another comedically bad goal
