Team PWHL Toronto has only been in the city less than a full season, and they're already breaking the records of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been a team dating back almost 100 years, with many Stanley Cup's to show for their efforts, but in recent years, they've not managed to be successful. Now, there's a new team in town who have already started breaking some records, that of course being PWHL Toronto.
Despite being a team for less than 12 months, PWHL Toronto have now rattled off 11 straight victories in the PWHL's inaugural season, beating the Maple Leafs all time record of 10, which was set just over 30 years ago.
Toronto PWHL extends their win streak to 11 games
Toronto Maple Leafs longest win streak is 10 in a row, set in 1993
The team are led by the star duo of Natalie Spooner and Sarah Nurse, and now find themselves sitting atop the league with a 10-3-5 record in 18 games played, with a three game lead on PWHL Minnesota with six games remaining in the regular season.
The league may not have expected such popularity early on, but already the team have managed the largest crowd in history for a women's hockey game, with PWHL's upcoming game against Montreal sold out in a matter of minutes.
PWHL Toronto may not have the foothold in the city that the Maple Leafs have, but it appears to be only a matter of time until they become one of the hottest tickets in town, something that winning the inaugural PWHL crown certainly wouldn't hurt.
