Minnesota Wild head coach John Hynes made a critical mistake in overtime that has potentially ended their playoff hopes. In overtime, John Hynes pulled his goalie going for the win but the game ended in tragedy.

This afternoon the Minnesota Wild took on the Vegas Golden Knights in what felt like a must-win game. The Wild sat 7 points back of a playoff spot with just 10 games left in the season going into today. The game would head to overtime deadlocked at one apiece.

Knowing his team needs as many wins as possible Minnesota Wild head coach John Hynes pulled his goalie in overtime. Sadly for him and his team the Vegas Golden Knights would end up scoring on the empty net. As a result by rule, the Minnesota Wild were not awarded the loser point in OT.

It remains unclear if John Hynes knew the insane risk he was taking in pulling his goalie during overtime. The Wild now sit still 7 points back and have just 9 games to close the gap.

If the Minnesota Wild lose out on a playoff appearance due to this major screw up there will likely be calls for John Hynes' job.
