The NHL continues to grow to new heights year after year, and while players may not earn as much as their MLB, NFL or NBA counterparts, they're still paid quite handsomely. However, that wasn't always the case, with players in eras gone by often struggling after their careers finished due to the lack of payment throughout their time in the league.
Unfortunately, that may be the case with former enforcer Donald Brashear, as the 52-year old has recently taken on a very intriguing new sales job, signalling he may have hit rock bottom.

According to a Facebook post, Brashear has taken on a role as a car salesman at a local Nissan dealership, which certainly isn't how NHL players today will see their future going beyond their playing days. During a storied NHL career, Brashear played in 1,025 games for several top NHL franchise's in a career that spanned over 17 years. During that run, he tallied a solid 85 goals and 205 points, but made a name for himself as one of the best enforcers in the league, racking up 2,634 penalty minutes over the years.
Unfortunately, not everyone sets themselves up for success once their playing days in the NHL are over, and Brashear is a perfect example of that, as it appears he still needs to take on routine jobs to get by. For a long time, Brashear was a fan favourite on the biggest stage in hockey for many teams, but now he appears to be struggling to get by, so we very much hope that life is going well for the 52-year old, with his circumstances potentially serving as a lesson for those players today getting paid much, much more money.
