After a star-studded off-season, the expectation this year was for the Nashville Predators to contend for a Stanley Cup in a wide-open Western Conference.
Unfortunately, they haven't looked good at all in 2024/25, with their 9-17-7 record seeing them sit in last place in the Conference, with concerns that they may be sellers heading into the trade deadline.
Recently, GM Barry Trotz downplayed the idea of selling however, confirming that the team will continue to push as they try to turn their season around, with the team potentially set to be big buyers in the near future.
With the team struggling all over the ice, they need plenty of upgrades, especially down the middle, as they are lacking plenty of punch beyond the veteran combination of Ryan O'Reilly and Steven Stamkos.
However, this hasn't stopped teams from calling about some of the Predators' top stars, with Marco D'Amico confirming that several teams have inquired about Steven Stamkos' availability.
Thus far, it appears the answer is a firm no from Nashville, but if they continue to struggle and the price is right, it would certainly make sense if the team at least listened to offers on the veteran who signed a four-year, $32 million deal this past off-season.
For now, though, expect the team to continue looking for ways to turn things around, and with reports stating that they are pushing hard for Dylan Cozens, this is clearly still a team that believes they can contend for a Stanley Cup in 2024/25.
