Jack Hughes has always been a bold, confident player at the NHL level, and after being called out for it, PK Subban has stood up for him.

The new wave of players in the NHL play a much different style to what fans became accustomed to in previous generations, and while some have adapted to enjoying their game, others simply can't help but criticize.

That has now come up again, as New York Rangers reporter Steve Valiquette recently called out Jack Hughes for what he referred to as 'Instagram hockey', all for his attempt at a move made famous 20 years ago, now referred to as 'The Forsberg'.

Unsurprisingly, not everyone was happy with Valiquette's comments, one of those being former NHL star PK Subban, who called out the analyst in a hilarious fashion.

"... With all due respect to the 46 games that Steve played in the league, Jack Hughes is a premier player in the National Hockey League who has the ability to do things that less than 1% of athletes can do on this planet....," Subban said.

After that, the former Devils defenseman would go on to state that the media should be uplifting these players rather than tearing them down, something that has become all too commonplace in NHL coverage in recent years.

"We need to give him a leash to do that," Subban said about Hughes. "As the media, we need to uplift it. That's my job. And that's your job, Steve.I get the homorism. Let's put that aside. What Steve's really doing, though, is addressing the New York Rangers, and that guys should be fired up about the situation..."

Unfortunately, criticism like this isn't going away anytime soon, but with the way Hughes, Connor Bedard and Trevor Zegras among others play taking over the NHL, they aren't going anywhere.
