Matthew Barnaby made his way around the NHL throughout his playing career.
He appeared in over 800 regular-season games, split among seven different clubs.
He is best known for his time in New York, where he spent seven seasons and 317 games with the Buffalo Sabres before eventually suiting up for 196 games with the Rangers.
To this day, the Ottawa native remains actively interested in the success of his former club in the Big Apple.
Recently, he went on a rant complaining about the way the team has been managed, specifically calling out head coach Peter Laviolette and general manager Chris Drury.
At the same time, Barnaby took a shot at Rangers owner James Dolan.
Barnaby has plenty of reasons to be mad at the Rangers.
First, they traded away their captain in Jacob Trouba.
That move did not necessarily hurt as much as one might expect since Trouba was being paid 8 million dollars to play a bottom pair role.
Still, trading away the captain is never easy, and the way things went down with Trouba clearly left a bitter taste in the mouths of the players and fans alike.
Perhaps the bigger surprise came when they moved Kaapo Kakko to the Seattle Kraken.
Again, that move can be justified as he hadn't lived up to the expectations of a 2nd overall pick, but he is still young enough that he has the potential to grow his game.
Trading him when he's at his lowest value and getting a depth player and a 3rd round pick back just feels inadequate at best.
Both of these moves are decisions Chris Drury has to live with. Will he pay for them with his job?
