After spending 18 years in the NHL, it was only a matter of time until 40-year old Joe Pavelski found a new role in the league, and according to a recent report, he may have already found that home. Reportedly, Pavelski was spotted in Pittsburgh with GM and Assistant GM Kyle Dubas and Jason Spezza, leading to speculation that the veteran may be finding his way to the Penguins in a yet undisclosed role.
It's unclear why Pavelski was in the building, as he has the potential to find a new role in the NHL as an executive, a coach or a scout, but after debuting in the NHL way back in 2006, he clearly wasted no time in looking towards the future. Over that time, Pavelski played in an incredible 1,332 NHL games, with a further 200 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, with that type of experience being invaluable, so it's no surprise that there's interest in him.
With so much of that time spent in San Jose and Dallas, there's a chance that both of those teams will look to pursue him in the coming weeks and months for a role in the organization, but right now, all signs are pointing towards Pavelski taking his first role post-retirement in Pittsburgh.
