Former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Foligno recently shared a story about his time with the team in 2021.

Foligno was one of Kyle Dubas' trade deadline acquisitions that attempted to get the Leafs past the 1st round hurdle. Of course though, that was not to be as the team infamously blew a 3-1 series lead to the Montreal Canadiens. Unfortunately for Dubas, Foligno was not nearly as effective in that series as he could have been as he was dealing with a lingering back issue. The veteran forward was recently on the Dropping the Gloves podcast, where he shared his story about that injury. He revealed that he was never certain what caused it, but there was one particularly scary moment in a game that just happened to be against the Canadiens.

"I got to Montreal or was it yeah Vancouver got to Montreal and uh just I don't know if it was the plane or what but just my back just was tight that night and I went to stop in front of the net and I have no idea why but for whatever reason boom everything just locked up. I was completely stuck couldn't even get off the ice actually, it was funny Josh Anderson was next to me and we played together in Columbus, and kind of like shoved me in front and he's like 'oh my God are you all right?' I'm like, 'I can't move' like so he was like trying to help me off the ice and he's he was like 'dude, what just happened?'"

With all that being said, this was just one of several topics Foligno discussed while he was a guest on the show. Naturally, fighting was among the topics they discussed as the veteran forward is known to drop the gloves from time to time. One of his more notable fights came just last season when he stood up for Connor Bedard, who broke his jaw on a hit from Devils defenseman Brendan Smith.

The full interview with him can be seen in the post below.

Foligno appeared in just 7 games with the Maple Leafs during that 2020-21 regular season, recording four assists in the process. He did appear in four playoff contests as well, adding an additional helper. In total, the veteran winger has appeared in 1155 regular-season NHL games across five teams. He has 232 career goals and 562 career points. Last season, he had 17 goals and 37 points in 74 games with the Blackhawks.
