After a solid start to the 2024/25 campaign, the Vancouver Canucks officially announced that veteran J.T. Miller would be taking an indefinite leave of absence from the team, with the team helping him prioritize his mental health.
Unsurprisingly though, the lack of information given by the team led to plenty of trade speculation, with the Spittin' Chiclets podcast and the Cam&Strick podcast leading the way, linking him to the New York Rangers and Boston Bruins.
Now, President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford has officially addressed the situation, making it clear that the team has absolutely no intentions of moving their veteran.
That wasn't all, however, as Rutherford seemingly called out the speculation around Miller, calling on the parties involved to go back to making up other trade rumors not involving Miller and the Canucks.
In 18 games played this season, Miller posted an impressive 6 goals and 16 points, so while he may not be on pace for his production from a year ago, he remains a huge piece for this team moving forward, with the team committing to one of their key leaders.
After all this, we still know very little about when Miller will return, and although he's been named to the Team USA roster for the Four Nations Face-Off, we still don't know when he will return, although it's highly likely that we see him back sometime before February in Canucks colors.
