For seven years, Jonathan Marchessault was one of the most important figures on the ice for the Vegas Golden Knights, as he was instrumental in their first Stanley Cup victory, taking home the Conn Smythe Trophy given to the playoff MVP.
This summer, the 34-year-old departed for the Nashville Predators, and while his career is still ongoing, there's absolutely no doubt that he's a candidate to be the first player in history to have their jersey retired in Vegas.
There's still a long time before that happens however, and now, he will meet his former team for the first time, and while oftentimes there's hostility, this time it's all love and excitement for the Quebec native.
It's unclear how everything will be received, but for the most part, it's all love, with Marchessault looking back on his seven-year run in Vegas very fondly, as he remained grateful for his time there.
While Vegas has continued on their successful run in his absence, his new team isn't doing so well, as the Predators currently rank 14th of 16 teams in the Western Conference, and with very little hope for this season, it's a free agency move he may be regretting.
Ultimately though, Marchessault is a Vegas Golden Knight through and through, and even after leaving, the fans and the organization still hold love for him, and that love is replicated and should be on full display on Tuesday night in Nashville.
