The Winnipeg Jets have all the makings of a Stanley Cup winning team, and now they may be targeting Nazem Kadri to fill a major hole in their top-six.

The Calgary Flames' trajectory has gone down further and further since the arrival of Nazem Kadri, through absolutely no fault of his own, and now the veteran center is becoming a trade target of a Canadian rival. According to reports, Kadri could be a name looked at by the Winnipeg Jets to fill their 2C role behind Mark Scheifele as they look to finally put all the pieces together and go on a deep Stanley Cup run.

Despite two straight poor seasons from the Flames, who have since moved on from the likes of Noah Hanifin, Chris Tanev, Jacob Markstrom, and many others, Kadri has excelled individually, posting 131 points over two seasons where he has played in all 164 games the team has played in. Although Kadri has publicly committed to the team during their rebuild, the 33-year-old would love a shot at the Stanley Cup again, and to do that, he will likely need to move on from the Flames.

With the Jets looking to move Rutger McGroarty, the pieces of a trade could definitely come together quickly, but with a no-trade clause, it may be difficult unless something in his public stance changes. With the team expected to be poor again in 2024/25, that could change very soon, and if it does, expect the Jets to be among a handful of teams interested in the former Stanley Cup Champion.
