If you're like me then you probably love the idea of a good old Arm Chair GM situation where someone is given the power to make a trade on behalf of their favourite team. Sometimes they're good, sometimes they're bad and sometimes they're just plain awful.

That's what we're going to focus on. 5 of the worst Arm Chair GMs suggestions we saw over the past week.

Josh Manson for Tyson Barrie
To start things off this week we go to Edmonton where this Oilers fan thought they could get their hands on Josh Manson for just Tyson Barrie. Barrie has 3 years remaining on his contract and is everything the Ducks don't covet in a Josh Manson trade.

If the Ducks were to decide to deal Josh Manson, the last piece they'd look for in return would be Tyson Barrie. This is simply a case of someone trying to get something for nothing.

Josh Manson for Dylan DeMelo & 6th round pick
Trevor Zegras for Andrew Copp, 2022 1st Round Pick & 2023 1st Round Pick
I'm not sure where to start with this one, but it seems like this Jets fan threw this together on NHL 22 and thought "let's take it to the people". Now as generous as trade #1 is, it's going to take more than DeMelo and a 6th to pry Manson out of Anaheim especially when you're asking the Ducks to retain money in the deal.

But the real problems start when you begin to ask the Ducks about their young up and coming Superstar Trevor Zegras. As good as Andrew Copp has been the unrestricted free agent and a bag of magic beans isn't going to get you anywhere close to acquiring the future of the Ducks forward group.

"Trevor Zegras is Trevor Zegras, but those draft picks could be anything...even Trevor Zegras." - This Fan

Evan Bouchard and Dylan Holloway for Ben Chiarot, Jake Allen and a 2nd round pick
I know Pierre LeBrun has done a good job of hyping up Ben Chiarot and his trade value, but this Habs fan must think Peter Chiarelli is still in charge of the Oilers if he's getting the Oilers top 2 prospects for a rental defenseman, backup goalie and a draft pick, especially if he's not even taking Mikko Koskinen back in return.

This trade would have a difficult time being accepted with trades set to easy on Chel.

In our next trade this Leafs' fan takes it upon themselves to make every Leafs fan look as bad as humanly possible. This fan has decided the Leafs are going to place Mitch Marner on season ending LTIR and use his cap space to add Tomas Hertl, Evander Kane, Claude Giroux, Mark Giordano, Jared McCann, James Reimer and Rikard Rakell for literally every piece of the Toronto Maple Leafs future.

The only one of these deals that is even remotely possibly would be Rakell for Alex Kerfoot and a 1st round pick, which is likely an overpayment by the Maple Leafs.

This fan has somehow stripped the Leafs of all their prospects, picks and their fan base of it's respect in one single Arm Chair GM.

In our final trade of this week this Blackhawks fan shows it's not just Leafs' fans who are a little bit out of touch, it's Hawks fans too. In this deal the Blackhawks complete their rebuild in one single transaction as they're somehow able to add multiple former 1st round picks, a starting goalie and still they somehow get a 1st round pick for their troubles. All while giving up a couple struggling prospects, a UFA goaltender and Patrick Kane.

It's amazing the things people can think of when there is no checks and balances in place to tell them something isn't a good idea.

Until next time this had been Arm Chair GM fails Volume. 1
