Making it to the National Hockey League is very difficult. Millions of kids are playing hockey across the world with the dream of playing in the NHL, but only a small select few will ever make it, so it's definitely not something that should be taken for granted.
When a player is drafted in the later rounds of the draft, it's very rare that they actually develop into NHL players. This 23 year old rookie defied the odds and worked his way up from the WHL, into the AHL where he has blossomed and was given a shot with the Blue Jackets this season.
Unfortunately for him though, today he has missed a team meeting due to oversleeping and has been sent back to the AHL.
Trey Fix-Wolansky is having a very good season in the AHL this year averaging well above a point per game, but after 7 games with the Blue Jackets he recorded 0 points.
