One thing the Edmonton Oilers have been seriously lacking these past few years is elite goaltending. They thought they fixed that issue in the summer when they signed the second best goaltender available in free agency, Jack Campbell to a 5 year deal, but Campbell has not been good since arriving.
The starting job has unofficially been handed over to Stuart Skinner who has stepped up huge this season in his first full year in the NHL and he has been awarded with a new contract.
Skinner was in the final year of his deal, and with Campbell in the first year of his 5 year deal, the Oilers couldn't commit to a 5+ year deal with Skinner incase he for some reason doesn't continue to work out.
So the Oilers and Skinner agreed to a three-year bridge deal:
Skinner will receive $2,600,000 per season for the next 3 years.
