BREAKING: Flyers Sign Controversial Defenseman
After trading controversial defenseman Ivan Provorov, the Flyers have went out and acquired another defenseman who fell into a similar controversy last season.
Flyers Sign Staal
It was just announced by NHL insider Frank Seravalli that the Philadelphia Flyers will be signing Marc Staal to a one year deal.
Staal found himself in hot water after refusing to wear pride night jerseys last year, similar to Ivan Provorov. Fans thought the Flyers were heading into a new direction after trading Provorov to Columbus but it appears they do not care.
Due to the actions of Provorov and Staal, the NHL and Gary Bettman decided to ban specialty warm up jerseys entirely which has received massive amounts of backlash.
Nonetheless, the Flyers will be looking to have Staal as a veteran presence and have him help guide them during their rebuild. His brother Eric is currently on the free agent market and his brother Jordan signed a 4 year contract in Carolina last month.
