Matt Cooke Returns to Hockey After 8 Years
As announced via X.com by Chris Johnson, Matt Cooke will make his return to hockey as the head coach of the Newfoundland Growlers of the ECHL. Cook played over 1000 games in the NHL before retiring in 2015.
"Matt Cooke has been named head coach of the ECHL's Newfoundland Growlers."
Cook spent time with the Canucks, Capitals, Penguins, and Wild during his NHL career. He scored 398 points and racked up 1,135 minutes in penalties. He won a Stanley Cup with Pittsburgh in 2009.
