Flames Forward Injures Rival Defenseman Long Term
The NHL preseason is supposed to be a time when teams can sharpen their skills and prepare for the NHL season. Games are competitive but not usually highly physical. This was not the case though in the game between the Vancouver Canucks and the Calgary Flames.
Flames Forward Injures Rival Defenseman
On Friday the Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks re-engaged their rivalry in the preseason. What started out as a normal chill preseason game for both teams quickly turned into a disaster for one.
Near the end of the second period, Flames forward Yegor Sharangovich and Canucks defenseman Carson Soucy were in a puck battle in the corner. The two got tied up and Soucy went down with what looked like a nasty leg injury.

Soucy did not return to the preseason contest after being evaluated by the medical staff. This left Canucks fans worried about his status for the regular season.
Canucks Make A Statement On Defenseman's Injury
During and after the game the Canucks provided updates on Soucy and his injury. During the game, the teams' social media crew updated fans to let them know Soucy would not return.

Then after the game head coach Rick Tocchet took the podium and was asked about Soucy.
«I don't have an update yet,» says Rick Tocchet of Carson Soucy's injury. Went on to imply it wasn't *that* bad, but nothing definitive. #Canucks
As of now, there is still no status update on Carson Soucy or his health. If he is going to miss time to start the regular season the Canucks will need to find someone they believe is capable of filling the void until Soucy can return.
