BREAKING: Oilers Receive Bad News About McDavid Injury
The Oilers have been off to an odd start as their offense hasn't quite settled in yet. Leading the team in scoring is Connor McDavid of course, but even he only has 8 points through 5 games. While most players would love to score at that rate, it is just a 132 point pace. Last year he passed the 150 point mark, putting himself in a whole new tier of offense. Now the Oilers may be without him for an extended period of time.
McDavid Suffers Upper-Body Injury
Oilers fans noticed something odd during their last game against the Jets. Not only did McDavid finish the 3rd period on the bench despite a tied game, he also did not take a single shift in overtime. This lead many Oilers fans to believe he was injured and today the team revealed that their fears have come true.
In typical NHL tradition, the team did not feel like disclosing the details of the injury and gave a relatively wide range for his prognosis. All we know is that he suffered an upper-body injury and will be out one to two weeks. Hopefully for Oilers fans those one to two weeks doesn't turn into two to three or longer because the Oilers have been struggling to score even with McDavid.
The Oilers only have five games between now and November 4th so perhaps McDavid will only miss those five or less. This injury could not have come at a much better time for the team schedule-wise. That being said, the Oilers are currently 5th in the Pacific with a 1-3-1 record. They will need their captain back as soon as possible.
