We've already said that hockey players are a different breed and today we are very happy to announce we have another story that just proves it. 33 year old Tommy Kristiansen risked his own life to save children from a building that had caught on fire.
Kristiansen has played the majority of his career in Norway for their professional league:
Over this past weekend he became more than just a hockey player, he became a hero.
While out walking his dog, he apparently spotted the building that had caught on fire, which was a four unit complex.
He shared the following info with Expressen.se.
I ran into the common entrance. I knew there were children living there, so I got them out first. I quickly emptied a fire extinguisher, then I saw the flames coming out of the kitchen.
After the fire extinguisher ran out, he quickly ran down the street to his house to get another one. He bravely was able to put out even more of the Flames before the firefighters finally arrived.
Thanks to the heroics of Tommy, 11 people were evacuated safely from the building.
Kristiansen was taken to the hospital after for precautionary reasons due to smoke inhalation, but was released with a clean bill of health.
