The Waiver-wire has been exciting this season, and yesterday we saw three players hit the waiver-wire from three different teams.

Placed on NHL waivers today: Zach Sanford (NSH), Magnus Hellberg (SEA) and Wayne Simmonds (TOR).

Many people believed that the player getting claimed would be Wayne Simmonds. He isn't the 30 goal scorer he used to be but he can still provide a physical presence to a team that is lacking.

But Simmonds cleared waivers as did Zach Sanford. The player that got claimed was actually Magnus Hellberg.

The Detroit Red Wings claimed the 6'6 31-year-old goaltender.

Hellberg was originally drafted by the Nashville Predators back in 2011. After bouncing between the NHL and the minors for a few seasons, he went to the KHL and made a name for himself putting up elite numbers.

He has been making quite a few rounds this season though after making his way back to the NHL. He was signed by the Seattle Kraken, but claimed by the Ottawa Senators. The Senators then put him on waivers, and he was claimed back by Seattle. Seattle then put him on waivers and now the Red Wings have him.
