The Chicago Blackhawks future all of a sudden looks very bright, and when building a franchise, a captain to lead the way is crucial, so Chicago now have a major decision in front of them.

The rookie

Many believe that while Connor Bedard shouldn't be handed the captaincy in his rookie year, giving him the role in his second or third year makes sense, but ultimately, it seems to be a matter of when, not if the young phenom is leading the way.

It's worked for Chicago before with Jonathan Toews, and it's worked in Edmonton and Pittsburgh with Connor McDavid and Sidney Crosby, so who could possibly stand in the way of another teenage captain in the NHL?

A veteran blue liner

According to a recent report, 28-year old Seth Jones has expressed a major interest in landing the role, and as one of the only veterans on the team locked into a deal, he is certainly a viable candidate.

Jones has been solid since joining Chicago two years ago, putting up a combined 88 points over those two years, and as they now head into a rebuild, he will be key to build the blue line around, but with Bedard looming, it just doesn't make sense to go with anyone else as captain.
