The Calgary Flames have been a hot topic as of late. After an outstanding season, finishing first in the Pacific, the Flames unfortunately would bow out in the second round to their arch-rival the Edmonton Oilers.
Flames fans have been watching things closely wondering if Johnny Gaudreau will stay a Flame or leave for free agency. Hockey Insider Andy Strickland would share that the Flames have given Johnny Hockey a long term contract offer worth $9.5 million dollars annually. Gaudreau has yet to answer either way.
Unfortunately that's not all Flames fans have to worry about as Strickland would also share Flames General Manager Brad Treliving is looking at possibly trading the Flames best player Matthew Tkachuk.
Treliving hasn't ever been fully ''all-in'' on Tkachuk, offering him just a 3 year deal instead of locking Tkachuk down long term.
Tkachuk scored 42 goals and 104 points this season, he's a restricted free agent that was making $7 million dollars annually but is expected to be making $9-10 million dollars annually on his next deal. The Flames drafted Tkachuk 6th overall in 2016 expect many teams will be trying to acquire Tkachuk if he does indeed hit the trading block.
