Chris Wideman was one of many players involved in a scandal way back in 2017, in which a group of Ottawa Senators players were caught on video in an Uber trash talking about their teammates and coaches. The fallout of that video saw Wideman bounced around by a couple of teams before signing in the KHL for a year. He has since returned to the NHL with the Montreal Canadiens, but that doesn't mean the incident is behind him.

There's More to the Video That Wideman Can't Speak About

As if the video itself and the aftermath of its release wasn't bad enough, Chris Wideman recently made an appearance on the Cam & Strick podcast to speak about the incident.

Here's what he had to say:

"What I think is lost in that whole thing is, you know, we said some things and got carried away and said some things that weren't really that outside the box of what guys typically talk about. We're talking about work, we're frustrated, we were losing and it was unfair that it was taken out on one of our coaches and the way that it looked was really just very disrespectful. After going through everything I went through after and being able to make it back to the NHL, I'm almost thankful in a way that it did happen because I learned a lot about myself, how to persevere and overcome, but also learned a lot about the world and how things really work."

"There's a few more things that happened that I can touch on when I retire, that happened that I don't need to bring up. But there's a whole side of this that, there was some other stuff said and recorded and released, that no one ever saw. It didn't come out of my mouth, I can say that much." - Chris Wideman

It's safe to say that Wideman has learned from this experience and grown as a person since then. He didn't have to make an appearance on the podcast to talk about it, but he chose to, and that shows some real maturity and personal growth.

Wideman has one more year left on his contract with the Montreal Canadiens.
