After having a record breaking season the Boston Bruins were the odds on favorites to raise the Stanley Cup this season. But that wasn't the case after the Florida Panthers pulled off the biggest comeback upset in NHL history.
You knew this was obviously going to cause some changes in Boston. The Bruins loaded up with some players such as Tyler Bertuzzi, Dmitry Orlov, and others who are pending UFA's this summer.
If Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney is interested in resigning some of these guys Sweeney is going to have to get creative. One player that has been talked about being on the move is long time Bruin Brad Marchand.
Is Don Sweeney Going To Ask Marchand To Waive His No Trade-clause?
The 34 year-old has been with the Bruins since being drafted 71st overall back in the 2006 NHL draft. Marchand's production was a bit down this season with 21 goals, and 46 assists, in 73 games.
However, Marchand holds the power with two years left on his current contract that includes a no trade clause. Meaning Marchand would have to waive his no trade-clause if the Bruins were indeed going to move Marchand but it's definitely a possibility.
